PROGRAM : WFUNA’s Advanced Training Program at the UN in Geneva, Switzerland DATE : 29th JUNE, 2015 – 1st JULY, 2015 The UN has never been closer to us. Abstract concepts of multilateral communications and works toward global values became visualized and realistic. Lectures and activities allowed me to grasp some ideas of several key issues in the globe. It would be a remarkable experience to those who wish to advance to international fields to have actual visits to the core of international organizations and to have direct talks to the officials in charge. This ATP in Geneva is definitely the case for the willing applicants. UN and Geneva Your first descriptions of the UN headquarter may be multiple national flags and huge buildings in New York. It is only half true. Another UN headquarter is in Geneva. The two different headquarters have operational distinctions; one in New York concerns issues of security, while the other in Geneva concerns environmental, human rights, humanitarian issues, etc. Geneva has flourished with settled multiple international organizations due to friendly policies of Switzerland government, giving you the best opportunity to experience Reported by ‘Seonghyeon Park’ 2015/08/15 < Topic-based lectures and activities > [Mon, June 29] The UN and Multilateralism * Aziel Goulandris, Education Officer 「Diplomacy and Multilateralism」 * Guided Tour of the United Nations at Geneva * Aziel Goulandris, Education Officer 「Introduction to Human Rights」 [Tue, June 30] Human Rights * Julianne Gourdin, OHCHR 「Presentation of the Human Rights Council」 * Attendance of the Human Right Council * Visit of the Korean Mission to the UN – Meeting with Korean Diplomats [Wed, July 1] Humanitarian Issues * UNHCR officer, UNHCR activities in the field * Visit of the US Mission to the UN – Meeting with American Diplomats on humanitarian issues * Ms. Cynthia Rocamora, UNCTAD 「UNCTAD: the involvement of the UN in Trade and Development」 [Thu, July 2] Environmental Issues * Role Play – Model United Nations: Greening the Globe [Fri, July 3] Environmental Issues * Role Play – Model United Nations: Greening the Globe * Career development – Meeting with young professionals and interns working for IO in Geneva (OCHA, ICRC, ILO, and Brazil Mission)

Title : 5th WFUNA Youth Camp - KoreaDate : 2015.07.27 ~ 2015.08.025th WFUNA Youth Camp: Korea was held in Kyung Hee University. WFUNA has been annually opened its camp in Kyung Hee University and it’s the 3rd time that KIC worked with WFUNA. WFUNA Youth Camp: Korea is the place where students are given the chance to learn how to debate for 6 nights and 7 days. Trainers from both within Korea and countries abroad share their knowledge regarding debate. This year, the theme was Human Rights which students talked about topics like the poor, social equality, victim and the criminal relationships etc. Based on the skills that they acquired, students were given time to practice out with the tournament system of WFUNA. Along with the debate curriculum, mentors had a chance to get closer to the students with activities like Game Day or Shoes for Hope so that students can relax after the hard work that they have done throughout the day. WFUNA Youth Camp: Korea has successfully finished thanks to the help from KIC and KIC Model UN Secretariat.

PROGRAM : Intensive Two-Week Short Couse at Stanford University DATE : July 6, 2015 – July 17, 2015 "New technologies come and go; it is the culture that matters. Acceptance of diversity and new ideas is the path to innovation." The two weeks that I have spent at Stanford was one of the most inspiring experience I have had being in college. Ranging from wonderful lectures held at APARC to various field studies such as a tour of the company LinkedIn, the experience I had allowed me to view this "brain-linked" globe with a wider perspective. As a catalyst to stimulate academic motivation for all students, the short intensive course at Stanford University is a must for all members of the KIC.
